MA Talk… Is it possible??

This afternoon our tutor group was given the opportunity to experience a talk about going on to an MA (Masters degree) after graduating from our BA. I found this very intriguing so jumped at the chance for more information. The speaker, Steve Bennett, discussed what is involved within an MA, explaining it is more about you as designer and personal factors you wish to focus on. He stated that you choose what projects you are interested in creating, basically what you want to achieve by going through with the degree. Key aspects of the course are that you gain new skills, enhance and strengthen current skills and increase your confidence in your own work. You investigate areas of designs, discovering your own designer profile and methodology. It also increases your chance of employability, interacting with people in practice and getting involved with hands on projects with a client.

Both Steve and his colleague Jason were extremely open and friendly when it came to asking them questions about the course and their own working background. It was a relaxing atmosphere which helped encourage me that an MA for me could actually be possible, as I did not have the confidence before the talk.

Edited images - Photoshoot

Just as an update on my honours project I have edited my photos from the shoot last week. Below are some of the images, I am really happy with the outcome of the shoot and think it ties my project together.

I will now be using the images to start building up a promotional package to go side by side with the rebranding of the store concept.

Watch this space kiddies!

Surprise surprise - LinkedIn related post

Looking through my connections on LinkedIn I discovered that Elliot Higgins, Communication and Interior Design Manager from IKEA Group, had looked at my profile! So, as to keep my name fresh in his mind I added him as a connection, hoping he will accept meaning I can then email him regarding possible work experience within the Interior Design side of the company.

Another additive LinkedIn update!

Today I wrote a reminder to myself to add on to my LinkedIn profile my time at C21 Creative Communications Ltd. as this goes towards my experience in the work place. I started off by giving a brief description of what I did over the week, including logo design, working with a client and following feedback. I then added a small paragraph on how I felt throughout the week, what I had gained and learnt from my time there.

Updating my profile with every section of work placement I manage to get will bulk up my portfolio, increasing my employability and chances of acceptance for an interview.

LinkedIn Update

Today I have been updating my LinkedIn profile again (this has become an addictive habit!) I decided to look up contacts that I had a link with, so started off by searching for employees of the JWLees Brewery, the company I work part-time for already. I have already contacted them directly via telephone and email about possible work experience within the marketing team but no response as of yet. Therefore, this time I searched for the marketing team as individual people, cutting out the “middle man”.

I added a selection of the JWLees’ team, including Andrew Ogden – Creative Designer at JWLees – with a note stating I work for the company already and I am looking for placements within design and marketing. I also added Victoria Jackson – HR Manager at the company which I hope will be an advantage as she may help with recruitment.
